Made to measure

Custom Under-Stairs & Sloped-Ceiling Furniture in Melamine

A staircase or a sloped roofline always leaves that awkward wedge of space where no off-the-shelf cabinet ever fits. In our workshop in Saint-Savin, Isère, we build under-stairs and sloped-ceiling units in melamine panels that follow the exact angle of your roof or staircase. You design yours in minutes with our 3D configurator, with the price recalculated live, and we build it to the millimetre, just for you.

Why a custom unit beats off-the-shelf furniture

Under a slope, every centimetre counts and no measurement is ever a round number: the roof angle, the ceiling height and the available depth are unique to your home. A flat-pack cabinet inevitably leaves a wasted triangle at the top and unsightly gaps at the sides. A made-to-measure piece uses the full volume right down to the lowest point of the slope, turns dead space into real storage and fits as if it had always been there. It is also built to last: melamine panels assembled in the workshop, with a stable, hard-wearing surface.

Décors and finishes

We work with a wide range of melamine décors — oak, beech, ash, walnut and plain colours depending on the look and budget you are after. Oak is the safe choice for an under-stairs unit in a living room or bedroom, while a pale décor brightens up a darker stairwell. The melamine surface withstands daily use, marks and moisture, and wipes clean with a sponge. You preview each décor directly in the configurator, with the price adjusting in real time.

From 3D design to installation: how it works

It all starts with our 3D configurator: enter your dimensions, the angle of the slope, and the number of doors, drawers or open niches, and see the unit take shape in real time with its exact price. You order online and your unit is built in our Saint-Savin workshop, usually within two weeks. We deliver flat-packed throughout France, and in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region we handle delivery and installation ourselves for a perfect fit against your wall.

Making the most of the space under a slope

The golden rule: keep hinged doors and open niches in the tall section, where you stand and reach easily, and place sliding drawers or tilt-down flaps in the low section that is otherwise hard to access. Under a staircase, alternate closed cupboards to hide the vacuum cleaner or shoes with open shelves for a few decorative pieces. Don't forget integrated lighting either: an LED strip under the slope transforms a naturally dim corner. The configurator helps you weigh these trade-offs, based on how you'll actually use the room.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a custom under-stairs unit cost?+

The price depends on the dimensions, the décor and the number of doors, drawers and fittings. Since every under-stairs unit is unique, the price is calculated live in the 3D configurator: you watch it change with each choice, with no quote to request, then you order online.

What is the lead time?+

Allow under two weeks between your order and delivery, depending on our current workload and the complexity of the piece. The precise date is shown at checkout, since everything is handcrafted in our workshop in Saint-Savin (38).

Do you install the unit or do I fit it myself?+

We deliver flat-packed throughout France. We handle installation ourselves across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, which guarantees a perfect fit against your slope and wall. Elsewhere in France, the unit is delivered ready to install, with clear instructions, and installation remains available on request.

Is the furniture really hard-wearing?+

Yes. We work with melamine décor panels assembled in the workshop, with a stable, easy-care surface. That's what gives the unit its strength and longevity, while resisting scratches, marks and everyday moisture.

My dimensions are really unusual — is that a problem?+

That's exactly what made-to-measure is for. Steep or gentle slope, low height, irregular depth, corner returns: we build the unit to your exact measurements. The 3D configurator lets you compose your layout to the millimetre, with the price recalculated live.
